Gender Benders
I am a male, but in games where you create characters, i.e. MMOs, I make female characters better than 90% of the time. My reasoning is simple: I don't want to stare at some dudes hairy backside for hours on end while I play. I would much rather watch the more appealing female toons. It's not a matter of drooling or playing one-handed, they aren't that appealing . . .
Anyhoo - some folks seem to think this is weird. I don't run around saying "I'm a man!", but some dialog requires me to point it out so some hairy palmed freak will back off.
My wife and I have been playing together, and we both play female toons; imagine some of the responses when I tell the hairy palmed ones that she is my wife IRL . . .
So . . . who else plays as I do, and who thinks it's an aberration?

/agreed I make mostly female chars. However for some I do have male chars. I made a male warrior a male ranger and paragon However I have since deleted the war and para and replaced them with female chars of other professions. I'd rather look at the curves of a women then a mans behind for a couple hours a day or so even if it is only pixels.

Well, looking at the title "gender bender" I was thinking about something else, but thats just propably me...
As for the male/female question is concerned, 4/6 of my characters are female, I dont care, most of the male gamers have female characters. And most of the 12 year olds playing this game, propably wont consider that there are actually women playing this game aswell, thats propably why you get answers like that, when you say you are playing guildwars with your wife

I think this has been discussed before..but I'll throw my 2gp worth in:
Play what you believe gives you the most entertainment for your time.
I would only find it disturbing, if you are one of those things standing in a town play acting..then you would soooo freak me out.

personally... i dont think its that weird. i know girls who play as guy characters. i know a good number of guys play as girls. i think it comes down to how you view yourself in the game, i like to see my characters somewhat as me so i can relate more. its more personal to me and adds to the experience.

I'm not surprised guys play as female chars anymore. If you do it to oogle some pixelated girl...sad. If you just like the way it looks better, fine. Some of the male char models could have been better I suppose. But whatever you like. I play as what I am when given the option = female chars ftw.

I am a guy, but mostly play female characters. I do this in GW mostly because I hate the look of a lot of the male armor. I have/had Assassins and Dervishes who are/were always male because they don't look that bad to me. For the most part though, the females look better in GW.

I almost always make female characters, solely on the basis that I like the female character models better than the male models. I've made a total of two male characters; both of them are mules.

I was thinking of a crossdressing robot.
I don't think it's weird. I think it's weird to think it's weird, but that's of little relevance.

I have plenty of friends who make female chars. Whether is for the armor, looks, etc.
I don't see anything wrong with it. If your comfortable playing certain kind of char, go ahead.
Now, the guys who roleplay as females and think they are female, are the ones that freak me out <<

I prefer female chars as i think their armour usually looks better.
And i enjoy making the smallest char possible and giving it the biggest weapon possible

It's not wierd for a guy to play a female character.
It is wierd for a guy to actually lie about his gender/rp as a female.

I'm a male that plays male characters with his female girlfriend who plays female characters. But then again I'm more into the role playing aspect of games like this and have no beef with anyone that plays a cross gender character.
